Do you even have a toddler if you don’t throw an Elmo Birthday Party? My cute daughter LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Elmo and Big Bird when she was little and we threw her numerous little Sesame Street playdates.
It was years ago, but my niece is turning two and my sister asked me to brainstorm some DIY Elmo Birthday Party Ideas for her.
Here are the fun DIY ideas I found.
TEN DIY ELMO PARTY IDEAS
ELMO OREOS
A no-bake party dessert? Yes please! It gets so busy before a party and I know the thought of making homemade treats gets overwhelming.
A no-bake treat that can be made and frozen before is always such a good idea. It takes so much of the stress away and these Elmo Oreos couldn’t be cuter.
ELMO PARTY HATS
You know how much I love paper crafts and the idea of making these Elmo Party Hats makes my heart flutter.
And the best part is that they are SO, SO easy and can be made from a simple hat template and circles (hello circle punch)!
ELMO SUGAR COOKIES
My oh my! I love me some sugar cookies. In fact I have the best sugar cookie recipe of all time that I really need to share.
These Elmo Sugar Cookies are just darling. They used Russian Frosting Tip to create the fur-like appearance of the sugar cookie frosting.
And edible googly eyes make these cookies look just like little Elmos!
ELMO GELOTIN CUPS
My favorite DIY projects are those that can be done super quickly. These DIY Elmo Gelotin Cups are just that.
All they take to recreate are Mini Solo Cups and sharpie markers!
You don’t even have to fill the cups with jello. They’d be darling with red skittles, red hots or red Hershey kisses!
DIY ELMO PINATA
There is something about a piñata that makes my heart so happy. They are so fun and colorful and it makes for the perfect party game.
I love that this momma made a DIY Elmo Piñata to match her party theme! It’s eyes are just so spot on. She has a full tutorial of how to recreate it for yourself.
ELMO FRUIT TRAY
Another SUPER easy food idea for your Elmo Party! How darling is this Elmo Fruit Tray?
The host filled a tray with strawberries for the face, blueberries for the mouth and used cups of yogurt for the eyes. I could see the kids getting so excited about eating this! Plus….healthy.
ELMO RICE KRISPIE TREATS
Here’s another great DIY, make-ahead Elmo Party Treat. You can make and freeze these DIY Elmo Rice Krispie Treats ahead of time and pop them out the day of the party.
I love the half-circle Oreo mouths and the darling red candy noses.
PIN THE NOSE ON THE ELMO
It’s no secret that I love Pin The Nose games (here’s my Pin The Heart on the Arrow and my Pin The Tail on the Bunny)!
It’s a party game that NEVER FAILS and is always a real crowd pleaser for adults and kids alike.
This Pin the Nose on the Elmo is no exception. My favorite aspect of this photo is that she doesn’t even have a blindfold on. How cute is that?
ELMO DRINK BIN
Here’s another super easy, quick DIY Elmo Party Idea that takes just minutes to make, but offers a big punch! Take a large red beverage big and either draw (with sharpie) or vinyl a cute little Elmo face on the front.
It’s such a large, focal point that can’t help but get kids excited to celebrate!
ELMO PAPER PLATE PUPPET
And the last DIY Elmo Idea is a fun craft that you can actually make at your Elmo Birthday Party with nothing more than red paper plates, construction paper and google eyes!
It’s easy enough for toddlers, but engaging enough for older children as well. It’s the perfect party activity!
If you make any of these DIY Elmo Party Ideas, I’d love to see a picture! Make sure to tag me at @lovetheday or share with hashtag #LTDparties.
