Back to School Party Inspiration – ABC Cupcake Wrappers

I always loved school as a child and I was unapologetically the teacher’s pet. I looked forward to back to school shopping and would gladly spend my whole budget on new binders and pens rather than on clothes. Even as a child, I was totally Type “A”.

I was so lucky to have some wonderful elementary school teachers who threw epic class parties, taught us fun songs to help learn the material, and were creative women that poured into the lives of the little people that passed through their doors. Their bulletin boards and classroom doors were always decorated with a theme and back to school night was filled with the anticipation of the coming school year and yummy treats, of course. I think most of my teachers would have loved this Back to School printable backdrop for Back to School week.

I thought it would be fun to come up with some back to school party inspiration that doubles as décor and a fun craft activity for the kids. These cupcake wrappers look adorable when on display and the wrappers double as alphabet coloring pages and an activity for little learners to work on while they enjoy their cupcake treat.

Here’s what you need to make your alphabet cupcake wrappers:

• White cardstock
• Cutting machine (I used my Silhouette Cameo)
• Sketch pens
• Wrapper design
• Crayons
• Cupcakes

I created my cupcake wrapper in the Silhouette Design Studio and then added my alphabet to the wrappers. I selected the letters to be sent to the machine first and inserted a sketch pen. Once my letters were on my cardstock, I ran the same paper back through the machine but reversed my selection so that the wrapper border was cut out with a blade. This way, my cupcake wrapper had the blank letters on them ready to be colored.

I secured the back of the wrapper with a small piece of tape and dropped my Back to School cupcakes in them.

Once everyone has a cupcake, it is time to break out the crayons and get to coloring. I love the idea of coming up with color patterns for children to follow or letting them make their own designs. For an added bonus, include a couple crayons in a Back to School bag with this printable.
