How absolutely fabulous is this Olivia The Pig Princess Party by Rebecca of This Nest Is Best?! Rebecca is a fabulous event planner who has a great eye for detail as witnessed in this darling party. Here is a little bit about the party in the words of Rebecca,
I am so excited to share this birthday party with you! The five-year-old birthday girl, Braelyn, requested an “Olivia the Pig Princess” birthday theme from her mom months and months ago. If you aren’t familiar with the character, Olivia the Pig is the main character of a book series created by Ian Falconer. She now also has her own show on Nick, Jr. Olivia is very creative, imaginative and full of energy! Through her wild imagination, Olivia plays many roles, with the “Princess” being our birthday girl’s favorite. So, I set out to create a red (Olivia’s signature color!) and white party with plenty of princess touches. As for focal point of the party, the dessert bar really had to impress! I tried my hand at Martha Stewart’s Pom tutorial for the first time and was quite happy with how they turned out! They added a lot of color to the living room and guests could see them as soon as they walked in the door. The red and white striped fabric was a Mr. Lemon find in the bargain section of JoAnn’s Fabric (yes, Mr. Lemon comes party shopping with me on occasion!). I always check the clearance fabric section at JoAnn’s, particularly the weeks that they give an additional 50% off the already reduced prices. And the red “fabric” under the striped fabric is actually red wrapping paper! On the dessert table, we served candy dipped marshmallow pops and chocolate covered Oreo cookie pops, red licorice, Braelyn’s mom’s (amazing!) signature sugar cookies, and a beautiful cake brought in by Sweetness by Erin! The cake topper is an Olivia the Pig figurine that Braelyn had been wanting for a birthday gift – perfect! For drinks, we served pink lemonade with stripey straws from Hey Yo Yo.Setting the scene for the Olivia the Pig “Princess” Birthday Party was so much fun! Red and white decor with prints in stripes and polka-dots were the main focus. The pops of red throughout the living and dining rooms really made the space feel so festive! In the living room, we set up tables and chairs for the girls and covered them with red and white polka dotted wrapping paper (yes, wrapping paper again!). All of the chairs received a large tulle bow – a little touch of “princess” for the decor! When the girls arrived we had them color Olivia coloring pages from Nick, Jr (there are lots of great activities and printables available on this site!). When everyone arrived, the girls played an Olivia musical stars game, also from Nick, Jr (similar to musical chairs). The girls received their pig ear headbands and noses just before eating and were quite tickled about them! After snacks, each girl made her own beaded necklace and then it was time for the main event of the afternoon… Early on, Braelyn’s mom and I had decided that creating a “costume room” for the girls would be the highlight of the party – and we really couldn’t have been more correct! Each girl received a pair of fairy wings, tulle tutu, wand, crown, ring and purse. This was definitely the “princess” aspect of the party and the girls were SO excited to pick out their princess accessories and get their photos taken! There were even squeals of delight as they lined up to enter the much awaited costume room! I think the fact that we waited to do this part until the end really added to their suspense and excitement to finally go in!

Pink Piggie Party is just the cutest. We love Olivia at our house!
I was loving all of this, but when I saw the pig ears and snout – fantastic! This is such a fun party! Also think using wrapping paper for children’s parties is a great idea, as you have less reason to be worried about spillages and messes…
I love love love this!!! I’m planning to do a Olivia’s party for my daughters 4th birthday. I got most of my decor from celebrate express but I thought the pig handbands would be a nice touch, do you mind telling me how you did those?? You did an awesome job, very creative.
