Hi friends, Elise here from Polka Dotted Blue Jay and I can’t wait to share these easy and colorful kids birthday party favor ideas.
I don’t know about you, but I am surrounded by little kids and their birthday parties. Between my sisters and best friends, I have six nephews and three nieces. Not to mention the countless other little ones of various close friends and it seems like we are at a birthday party at least once a month.
I really enjoy going to all the kids’ birthday parties, seeing the fun decorations, taking photos of the cake smashing, and, if I am lucky, singing Disney tunes with the kids for the better part of the afternoon. I am a big kid myself so I fit right in.
When I make party favors for my parties I always try to make ones that double as decorations during the party that are practical gifts for my guests to enjoy when they go home. I love the colorful Crayon Party from the Love The Day archives and I thought a crayon-themed party favor would be just perfect for a kids birthday party.
I picked up some plastic pencil boxes, crayons, and some stickers this week at Michaels. I also purchased light-up puffer ball, a mini memo pad, candy, and some bubbles to include in the party favor box.The tops of the pencil boxes got some wavy cardstock on both ends and an oval with the children’s name. I cut both out using my Silhouette Cameo and created the oval my inserting the oval shape and then adding the text to get the negative space. All the cardstock pieces were attached with a little adhesive from my tape runner. Each box was filled and then snapped closed. They could also be used to gather up candy after a piñata or to take other party treats home. If your guests are anything like the kids in my family, they will be swapping their treasures and exchanging in no time.
One of my main goals with my crafts is for them to always be quick and relatively inexpensive. The supplies for each of these favors was under five dollars and it would be even less if you purchased some of the contents in bulk rather than individually like I did.
These pencil boxes were so much fun to decorate, I can’t wait to make some more kids birthday favors using them in the future. What would you fill them with? Tell us in the comments.
