This post is sponsored by Michaels, but my LOVE for Michaels is real and abiding.
It’s another month (happy May!) and another Michael Maker’s Challenge. This month I am sharing some fun 4th of July Party Decorating Ideas and chatting a little about Michaels new Bulk Buy feature!
Last year I styled this HOW TO THROW A 4TH OF JULY PARTY and chatted all about the food, games and music. This year I thought I’d share a little bit more about decorating for your 4th of July Party. Keep reading for some of my tips and tricks!
4th of July Party Decorating Ideas
HOW TO DECORATE FOR THE 4TH OF JULY
TIP 1: Chose the tone of your 4th of July Celebration! There are SO, SO many directions you can take:
- Rustic or Americana (like my front porch)
- Traditional Red, White & Blue (like these 4th of July Party Ideas)
- Nautical (like this Nautical Party or this Nautical Red, White & Blue Party)
- Non-traditional colors of red, white, blue and yellow (like this 4th of July with Michaels)
- Vintage (like this Vintage Americana Party)
TIP 2: It will come as no surprise to anyone, but I’m ALL ABOUT layers and patterns!!
In this party I used: stripes, polka-dots, chevron and mini polka dots. That’s a whole lot a pattern, but done the right way (by layering and incorporating solid colors) …. it works.
I used a white table to separate my two largest patterns, the polka dots and stripes. That bright white and space allows for the large prints to coordinate rather than fight for attention.
I applied the same concept for my table layers. I used a bold 12X12 inch blue card stock (which I purchased with Michael’s new Bulk Buy feature) to separate the polka dot runner and some chevron plates.
I love this new Bulk Buy feature. It’s perfect for party planners and those who like to host crafting nights! You no longer need to hit up four different stores to find the products you need for your large events. Hooray and thank you Michaels!
TIP 3: Accent, accent, accent!
To give the scene a little pop I added some glass lanterns, glittered stars and patriotic pinwheels to the table.
I love to layer my accents as much as I love to layer my patterns. Here I placed my latern a top of a white cake stand to bring dimension to the table.
