I know it’s only July 5th, but Back to School just over a month away! SAY WHAT?! My baby girls start school on August 15th. That seems SO, SO soon. Didn’t we JUST wrap up a school year? I guess that’s the way life goes so I better get ready. I’m starting by making a Back to School grade banner for my youngest girl who is still in elementary school.
I wanted a traditional back to school garland with a twist, so I used black chalkboard pennants and spruced them up with pom poms, wood beads and my favorite…tassels!
I found all my supplies at Michaels that had a WHOLE end cap of pre-made tassels, pom poms and multi-colored wood beads. Oh Michaels, how I love you! Michaels has such a great selection of Back To School supplies and decor that are perfect for projects like this and for teachers who are looking to decorate their classrooms! Actually…this banner would LOOK AMAZING in a teacher’s classroom.
Plus it’s so easy to customize, a teacher could make a garland of her name….her grade….her subject. All the things! And ALL of July, teachers get 15% off!
MATERIALS for BACK TO SCHOOL GRADE BANNER

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE BACK TO SCHOOL BANNER
1. We actually have two options here! Use either mambiSTICKS White Letter Stickers and stick them on your Black & White Chalkboard Banner….or you can use your Cricut or cutting machine and vinyl letters/numbers on your pennants. I used stickers so that next year it will be easy to turn the 3rd grade into 4th grade without having to make a new banner!
2. Get creative and string a few beads, tassels and pom poms (using a large needle REALY helped me string the tassles and pom poms) in between your lettered pennants. I did a pattern of two beads/tassel/two beads, letter pennant and then two beads/tassel/two beads, letter pennant, etc…. BUT, the fun here is mixing it up!
And that’s it! SUPER EASY right?! Are you getting excited for school to start up again? Do you make back to school grade banners or signs for your kid(s)? I’d LOVE to see them!
As always, if you create this garland, SEND ME A PICTURE! Or share on social media using #LTDcrafts.
