Halloween is around the corner and it’s time to finalize Halloween party preparations! Are you ready? If not, I have some super fun Halloween party inspiration for you! And it’s using a medium you’ve maybe never thought of before for party decor. Duck Tape! I had such a great time thinking of fun ways to decorate with this amazing tape and found there were a few things I LOVED about working with this product:
- So many colors, shades and patterns! The options were endless. I decided on your traditional black, white and orange, but added a lot of the black and white polka dot tape for contrast.
- Ease! Forget painting a wooden crate. It took me two minutes (literally) to cover an entire crate with color thanks to the orange and white Duck Tape. And wrapped strands of tape around pumpkins and favor bags were a breeze.
- Durability. This stuff is INTENSE! I’m sure you’ve worked with Duck Tape before, but it is amazing for party decor because it holds so well! Those tape chains aren’t going anywhere. They won’t rip, tear or fall apart. They are so sturdy, I’m keeping them for my front porch next year.

The first thing I did with the Duck Tape was make my garlands. If you’ve followed any of my parties, you know I’m a sucker for garlands and backdrops (see my SKELETON SOCIAL, A HALLOWEEN PARTY, POLKA DOT BIRTHDAY PARTY, and CLOUD NINE BABY SHOWER). What I did for the tape chains was tape the Duck Tape in long strips to Butcher Paper, cut those strips into pieces and staple the chains together. For the party pennants, I used a cardboard pennant and decorated the pennant with the black, white, orange and polka dotted Duck Tape. I found that if you place the Duck Tape on Butcher Paper, it’s super easy to punch out circles with a circle punch.
I also used the Duck Tape to create adorable little faces on paper cups. I found that using Duck Tape Fiskar Scissors was an absolute MUST in this project. It was too sticky with regular scissors. I free-handed the faces to make them a little quirky and full of character. This would be an absolute blast with kids!
Using the same, tape-to-butcher-paper technique, I cut out a bunch of Halloween bats to tape to my wooden crate. Again, the Duck Tape Scissors are a must!
The last thing I did was tape stripes to party favors and tape stripes down my pumpkins!
