10 Ways to Celebrate New Years with Kids on Love the Day

While spending New Years with kids may not mean going out on the town until after midnight, why not celebrate together right in the comfort of your own home. I’ve pulled together so many fun ideas to help your family create special memories and ring in the New Year.

So whether you are hosting a party this year or want to keep it low key with just your family here’s 10 Ways to Celebrate New Years with Kids!

Click the titles or images below for more details on each idea.

10 WAYS TO CELEBRATE NEW YEAR’S WITH KIDS!

New Year’s Eve Balloon Clock

I love the idea of a New Year’s Eve Balloon Clock for so many reasons! It helps kid visualize the concept of counting down until midnight and it helps teach kids how to tell time!

And how fun for the kids to be able to move the clock’s hand every hour. And lucky the kid who gets to change the clock to midnight!

DIY Balloon Drop

We have dropped balloons at midnight for the last few years and MY KIDS LOVE IT! It’s super easy to pull off and it creates quite the moment when the clock strikes twelve!

Every year we switch up the balloon and confetti colors a little bit, but the effect is always the same! Pure magic!

DIY Noise Maker

This is either a brilliant craft or the world’s craziest! I guess it depends what age your kids are! My kids who are now 11 and 14 would hopefully be responsible with DIY Noise Makers.

But giving these noise makers to a bunch of toddlers would be brave! I guess you’d just want to hand them out right before midnight! Definitely not at 6pm with hours ahead of you!

Paper Plate Countdown Clock Craft

Here’s another adorable clock craft! But this time, each child gets their own clock to play with throughout the night.

That way no one fights over who gets to move the hands at midnight!

Party poppers are such a fun tradition! We typically pop them on Christmas morning, but I love the idea of them exploding on New Years Eve!

We’ve put candy inside them before, but how fun would it be to put novelty toys inside!?

If you’re looking for a fun game to play the night of New Year’s Eve, this is a good one!

Create count down bags. You can make them for every hour or every thirty minutes. Once the bags are made, write down fun activities for each time slot. The activity can be more fun as the night goes on!

  • Anyone else feeling the need to organize EVERYTHING!? This holiday was busy & super messy and I’ve been trying to get organized after all the fun chaos! This week I’ve decided to tackle the epicenter….my craft room/office. It’s a disaster! I decided all my craft supplies needed their own home and found the most amazing totes/bins at @michaelsstores (I’ll share them in my stories). I placed vinyl labels on all the bins and am starting to feel so much better about life. Here’s how I did it! If you are looking to organize your craft area, I’ve designed some SVG labels for you. They are on my blog! #cricutmade #cricutcreations #vinyllove #craftroomorganization #linkinbio👆 #craftroomstorage #svgcuttingfiles #svgfilesforcricut
  • Whew....we almost made it y’all. There’s no doubt that 2020 was an absolute doozy for just about everyone. Although I know the turn of one day isn’t going to bring around immediate change (especially during a pandemic), there’s something about a new year that brings with it new hope and new wishes! What are you looking forward to in the new year?! I’ve designed a full 2021 printable calendar to help you plan and dream for the year ahead. #LTDprintables #linkinbio #2021calendar #newyearnewgoals #printables #dallasblogger
  • We’re getting ready for Christmas Eve Dinner and even though it feels different with just our family of four, it’s no less magical. After starting the week off by sulking (with me being the most guilty), we decided our family really needed to turn it around. The second we started thinking about others rather than ourselves....BAM! Christmas spirit explosion!! An afternoon of random acts of kindness fixed all! Now we’re prepping for dinner with The Carpenter’s Christmas album blasting and excited for the festivities of the next 24 hours! It’s amazing how getting outside of yourself can change everything. If you’re in a Christmas funk..try it! It will instantly bring magic to your holidays. Merry Christmas Eve everyone!
