One of my big goals every summer is to have the girls read. And read A LOT!
They are typically pretty good on their own, but I find a reading chart is super helpful for my crew. We must be super A types because something about checking off a box gets all really excited.
So this year, I designed a Reading Log Printable that I think is going to be a really big hit.
Here’s how it’s going to work:
Each week of summer has seven circles, one for each day.
If my girls want to fill in the circles they have to read (uhmm pretty logical). I don’t set a time limit, I just require they read at least five minutes.
I find that once they get started, they don’t want to quit and they get some really great reading time in.
At the end of the week if all seven circles are filled it, we do something as a family as a reward.
We: go play pickle ball, go on a bike ride, make ice cream, go fishing, go to a movie….just something together to celebrate a week of great reading.
I thought you might want to try out our model so I added it to my PRINTABLE LIBRARY.
