Hi friends, Elise here from Polka Dotted Blue Jay and I can’t wait to share how to make this easy Patriotic Craft Idea with you today.
I have always loved fireworks and the 4th of July. It is my favorite holiday and I love watching the fireworks show at the end of a mac and cheese-filled day. If I had been a better math student I would have loved to work in pyrotechnics and enjoy fireworks year-round.
Unfortunately for me, store-bought fireworks aren’t allowed where I live in southern California. On the bright side, that just means I have to get creative and make patriotic crafts for my nephews and niece to enjoy during the day in the backyard.
Since we can’t have fireworks, I thought it would be fun to make DIY confetti poppers that the kids can refill and pop multiple times through the day. I decided to have a project where they can help assemble everything and create their own Patriotic craft project rather than do it all for them.
Here’s what you will need:
Wilton plastic treat pops
Metallic confetti or clippings from holiday wire
Paper shreds
Patriotic stickers
To make your DIY confetti popper:
Add your patriotic sticker to the outside of the treat pop.
Cut the paper shreds to a smaller, more confetti-like size.
Add metallic confetti, paper, and anything else you would like in your popper (glitter!) to a bowl and mix.
Carefully add your popper filling to the treat pop about ¾ to the top and cover with the lid. Be careful not to pack it in too tightly.
Remove the lid when you’re ready and push up the popper quickly and with some force to have your filling shoot up into the sky like a mini firework. I find it works best to hold the popper upright with one hand and use the palm of my other hand to push up the plunger. The metallic confetti will shimmer in the sunshine and your paper should flutter on the way down.
I love that kids can get involved with decorating their confetti poppers and can refill them multiple times as long as there are enough supplies. Here is another patriotic craft using poppers if you need more inspiration for your 4th of July fun.
Pin it for later

Lindi, I so love your patriotic themed decorations, but after downloading them I am unable to print them.
Any suggestions I can try? I would appreciate your response.
Thank you.
