Have you been to Michaels lately?! Spring has definitely sprung! Their new ‘Floral Market’ is full of new spring flowers , stems and faux flowers (over 500 varieties) that look so ridiculously real.
For this month’s Michaels Makers Challenge we were asked to use some of those gorgeous flowers and turn them into something new and creative. With spring and summer entertaining on the brain, I decided to make a Flower Pot Craft that doubles for a centerpiece or home decor.
This craft is perfect for the DIY lover who enjoys a simple craft with just a few steps. Here’s how you make them:
MATERIALS for Terra Pot Craft
3 Stems of Faux Florals
3 Clay Flower Pots (I choose a fun, tall variety)
3 Colors of Acrylic Paint
Sponge Brushes
Floral Foam
Floral Moss
Wire Cutters
INSTRUCTIONS for Flower Craft
Take your three clay flower pots and using your sponge brush, paint them three different colors. I found they needed three coats.
Let dry.
Take your floral foam and cut into three pieces.
Press down into your clay pots and secure.
Take your wire cutters and cut three single flowers.
Stick the flowers in the floral foam.
Cover the foam with the moss.
Make sure to take a look at some of the projects onMichaels.com or the other 49 Makers’ ideas on The Glue String to see how they personalized their floral crafts! You can also check them out below.
Super cute and easy!
So cute! Would you mind sharing where you purchased your pots? Adorable!
Kendra just purchase those cheap terracotta pots that are orangish in color!! You paint them and VOILA!! You can soft brush to give that Easter Egg glow or add a little glitter in your paint.. the options are endless. For example, I make snowman ones using paint and decorate with paint markers for Christmas and add live poinsettias for teacher or neighbor gifts as long as they don’t have cats. Very bad for cats.. Valentines I use the red purples and pinks and use the paint markers again to make hearts or “candy hearts” with the cute lil sayings in the hearts. Have fun! 🙂
so cuteeee
