Hello! It’s Amy Robison back again to share with you some fun holiday party ideas. Instead of doing the typical Thanksgiving place setting, I’m doing something a bit different. Today we’re talking about one of the best newly invented takes on this holiday, Friendsgiving. First off, whoever came up with Friendsgiving was a genius. I love extra reasons to party and celebrate holidays. Second, the idea of having two Thanksgiving feasts is something I think we can all get on board with, as long as we aren’t the ones hosting both. Haha!
As I looked for inspiration for this party I was drawn to this gorgeous paper line called “Flora No.1” from Carta Bella. From there, everything else just fell into place. I mean, you can’t go wrong with these gorgeous florals. They are perfect for a Thanksgiving, I mean Friendsgiving day feast with the girls.
This turkey party favor pulls the florals and Thanksgiving place setting together. It looks beautiful and sophisticated for a paper turkey, don’t you think? It’s perfect for a dinner with friends. The cotton drawstring bag is filled with treats or a small gift for each guest. Wouldn’t friendship bracelets or something along those lines be so cute in the little bags for all your gal pals? The turkeys are so easy to make and take just minutes.
How to Make Turkey Fan Party Favors
Supplies Needed:
- Turkey Fan Party Favor pattern or .svg cut file
- Scissors, or Silhouette or Cricut
- Paper
- Stapler
- Marker
- 2×3 inch Cotton Bags
Directions:
- Download and cut out the feather pattern using either scissors or your personal cutting machine (Silhouette or Cricut.) Accordion fold along the dashed lines.
- Fold the fan in half along the center dashed lines.
- Staple the two sides together in the center.
- Using a permanent marker, draw a turkey face and feathers on a drawstring bag.
- Fill the bag with treats or gifts. You can hot glue the bag to the feathers, or simply rest it against the feathers to make the gift bag easier for the guests to take with them. The bags are resting against the feathers and not glued in these pictures.
Floral Place Cards
These floral place cards serve two purposes. The first, is obviously to tell each guest where they are sitting. The second, is a little notecard from either you, the host, or other guests telling them why you are thankful for them. I think it would be fun for everyone to draw names and write a special note on that person’s place card, or for everyone to travel around the table writing a short answer of why they are thankful for each person on their place cards.
Simple and meaningful details like these will set your party apart and make it one each guest will remember. This would be a neat tradition to start. How amazing would it be to look back several years from now on a collection of meaningful, uplifting notes from your closest friends.
Mixed Florals
The last detail of the party is the flowers. Flowers can get pretty pricey, so I wanted to teach you one of my favorite hacks. Mix those faux flowers that would otherwise be expensive if they were real with fresh greens. The fresh greens help disguise the fact that the flowers are silk. They also elevate the style of paper flowers. Give it a try at your next party.
You can find a tutorial for these 3D paper flowers that I used on the table and place cards on my blog. You’ll be amazed at how easy they are to throw together even if you’re planning your party last minute. Your guests will definitely notice the handmade details and appreciate all your efforts to make them each feel loved.
