Last year I helped my sister plan the annual Activity Days Camp for the 8-12 (now 11) year olds of our church family. We had such a great time that I thought I’d share some of our Activity Day Camp Ideas and decorations!
Our theme was:
BE A PINEAPPLE
STAND TALL, WEAR A CROWN AND BE SWEET ON THE INSIDE.
DECORATIONS FOR ACTIVITY DAYS CAMP
As with many church activities, our budget was small. Like really small…so we spent all those funds on the food (really the most important part of any party).
We decided to decorate most of the camp with paper crafts because they are so cost effective.
We wrapped the long 8-foot tables in yellow and green construction paper and scattered paper flowers and palm leaves cut with my Cricut Maker around the table.
There was a dessert table to the side that we covered with the cutest palm fabric (that we found at Joanne Fabric on clearance). We created a backdrop for the table with HUGE paper fans that we found at Michaels.
We also created a photo-booth by draping a piece of bright, floral fabric on the wall and surrounded it with paper palm leaves, paper flowers and fans.
I designed pineapple themed photo-booth props for the girls to hold in front of the photo-booth. You can find and download them in my PRINTABLE & SVG LIBRARY.
How darling are these gals?! Especially in front of the photo-booth backdrop!Â
SHIRTS/TOTES FOR ACTIVITY DAYS CAMP
I wrote a WHOLE post about our Pineapple shirts and totes here, but I WAS OBSESSED with them! They were created by Custom Ink and are literally THE BEST PLACE TO PRINT T-SHIRTS.
SCHEDULE FOR THE ACTIVITY DAY CAMP
The camp was spanned over three days from 10AM to 2PM.
DAY 1
Welcome
Get To Know You – We had each girl decorate a LARGE piece of paper with drawings that describe themselves. We hung them on the wall and had each girl try to decide who was who.
Theme Introduction –
BE A PINEAPPLE:
STAND TALL, WEAR A CROWN AND BE SWEET ON THE INSIDE.
We then broke for classes: a Social Skills Class and Meal Prep Class
Lunch:Â We ate the lunch the girls prepared during the Meals Prep Class.
Book of Mormon Jeopardy –Â The rest of the afternoon was spent playing a fun and creative Book of Mormon Jeopardy (I wasn’t in charge of this one, so I can’t share the details).Â
DAY 2
Volunteer Morning – We met at a volunteer distribution center and had the girls sort donations. They LOVED it! It was hard work, but the girls did an amazing job.
Lunch:Â We had the girls bring a sack lunch and we provided them with homemade Dole Whips! They were delish!
Crafternoon: The afternoon was spent making a pineapple craft.
DAY 3
Pool Pizza Party – It’s Texas so we spent HOURS at the pool! We ordered pizza and had the best day.
And that was it! We had such a great time that we’re doing another Camp again this year. We’re doing a BE SUPER (supergirl) theme! I’ll make sure to do a post after we’re done.
Such a cute and fun idea! I would love to do this with the girls in my Ward! Where in Texas are you located? I live in Allen. Where did you get the canvas totes and t-shirts from?
Ahhhh!!! It would help if I had read through your ENTIRE post! I saw where you linked information on the t-shirts and totes! That was a big D-U-H on my part!
Thanks
Sue
This is awesome! How did you fund it? Did the parents chip in or did your ward cover it? We only get $1 per girl per activity so I don’t think we could swing it unless the parents or ward chipped in.
