Another Michaels Maker is upon us and this challenge is one of my favorites. The Halloween Costume Ideas Challenge! Do you remember by Rodeo Queen costumes from last year? They were a huge hit. My kids loved all the rhinestones and glitter. This year, I went a little different route. It’s still almost one hundred degrees here in Austin and I have refreshing treats on the brain. I don’t know how it came about, but I decided to make my little munchkins Ice Cream and Lemonade Stands. They may not be as flashy as the Rodeo Queens, but I’m completely obsessed with the stands and their bright colors. I mean how cute are their matching shoes?! Seriously guys, I’m completely dying.
Read how I made them below!
And, as always, I purchased all my supplies at Michaels. They have an AMAZING selection of Halloween goodies to help you decorate your yard, porch or kiddies. Whether you’re into spooky sights, playful pumpkins or giggling ghouls, the Michaels.com Halloween project page has tons of ideas for DIY Halloween costumes and décor.
SUPPLIES (for one box)
3 Elmer’s Foam Boards, 20X30
Acrylic Paint
Sponge Brush
Painter’s Tape
3, 12X12 Pieces of Colored Cardstock
2 Yard Sticks
Hot Glue
Cricut Explore
INSTRUCTIONS
First take your Elmer’s Foam Boards and create a box (the hot glue works great on the foam boards). I then cut a board in half for the counter and sign above their head and glued the counter to the box. I made foam board reinforcements to help the counter stay up as you can see in the picture. Next I measured 3.25 inch stripes on the box, taped them off with painter’s tape and painted the stripes with acrylic paint. I also painted the yard sticks and glued them to the box. Additionally, I glued the sign to the yard stick. Using my Cricut Explore, I cut out the Ice Cream and Lemonade letters and the half circle scallops for the front of the counter and glued them both on.

Very cute! How did the costume stay on? Did you hot glue the ribbon to the stand? Did it actually stay on for trick-or-treating? Thanks!
Brilliant craft, happy children, what can be better?
this post is good
Detailed directions and pictures would be more helpful. You say “make a box” but say to get 3 poster board. 3 can’t make a box. Super cute costume but help us make it too!!!
