I can’t believe I’m even writing this post because I’M SO NOT READY, but school is around the corner. Our new school in Dallas begins their school year on August 15th! What?! Didn’t summer just start?
I’ve teamed up again with Michaels to share some crafts ideas for back to school. Last year I shared BACK TO SCHOOL ACTIVITIES & PARTY and the year before that, these BACK TO SCHOOL TEACHER GIFTS.
Today I’m sharing how to make these fun DIY Colored Pencil Orbs. They are a perfect craft to get your kids excited for school or a fantastic back to school gift for teachers. Wouldn’t they look cute on a teacher’s desk?!
Here’s how you make them:
MATERIALS
FloraCraft Foam Ball (6 inches)
100 Count Crayola Colored Pencils
Yellow Acrylic Paint
Paint Brush
I purchased all my materials at Michaels. From crystals to pom poms to tassels & patches, Michaels has everything you need to bling out Back To School!
INSTRUCTIONS
Paint your FloraCraft Foam Ball yellow with your paint brush and let dry. I coated my styrofoam ball twice.
Break all the 100 Count Crayola Colored Pencils at the tip. I broke the first two inches of the colored pencil. I kept one broken pencil nearby to serve as a template for all the others. I also used needle nose pliers to help me break the pencils.
Start sticking the broken colored pencils into your painted styrofoam ball. Stick all (broken) 100 Crayola Colored Pencils into your painted styrofoam ball.Â
