Happy July and happy 4th of July weekend! I’m so excited to share another Michaels Maker’s post with you today (can you say 4th of July Milkshake?!). Have you checked out some of my previous Michael’s posts? My Lumberjack Christmas Tree, 4th of July Party or my Felt Crayon Garland tutorial are great places to start.
This month’s Michael’s Makers challenge is especially fun. We were given the task to create a craft/recipe/tutorial of our favorite DIY trends of the moment. Ever since my trip to NYC in May, I’ve been OBSESSED with over-the-top milkshakes like those at Black Tap. The are crazy colorful, delicious and are perfect for birthdays, events, and holidays. I thought the 4th of July a perfect time to try creating my own patriotic sugar bomb!

INSTRUCTIONS
The milkshakes themselves are super easy to make, I just combined my HOMEMADE VANILLA ICE CREAM with a little milk and stirred. It’s the display and prepping the milkshake glass that takes a little work. Here’s how I did it:
1. Cover the top three inches of a glass jar (I found mine at Michaels) with frosting. I used your regular old Betty Crocker Vanilla Frosting.
2. Cover the frosting with LOTS OF SPRINKLES! I combined four type of Wilton sprinkles found at Michaels.
3. Pour Strawberry Syrup in stripes inside your glass jar, fill the jar with the milkshake and then top with whipped cream and lots of candies! I used 4th of July Lollipops, star-shaped lollipops and rock candy sticks I found at Michaels, gum balls, licorice and star candies.
