I have a few adorable little girls in my neighborhood who are 4 & 5 and super, duper excited to start Kindergarten. One cute girl asks her mom everyday if today is the day she gets to go to school!
In an effort to keep their excitement alive, I decided to throw them a ‘Get-Ready-For Kindergarten Party.’ It turned out so well I thought I would share some of these school party ideas with you.
I wanted the party to be casual, so I pulled decorations from parties/projects past and put them all together.
I decorated the table with a red polka-dotted burlap table runner (used at Snap last year), tin and kraft boxes (from my craft room), fabric garland (from my Strawberry Party), blocked letters (from our playroom) and red daisies.
I hung a DIY alphabet garland (black card-stock painted with Elmer’s Markers) and filled a few tin buckets with Goldfish crackers which served as the pieces for our activity sheets.
When the girls arrived, they sat at the table and worked on a bunch of activity sheets I designed for them. I wanted to show my guests the types of activities and work they would be completing in school.
They used colored Goldfish crackers to create patterns, match colors and fill in shapes. The girls LOVED them and enjoyed snacking on the crackers as they filled them out.
We chatted about what school would be like, had a Goldfish cracker food fight and finished the party off with a glass full of milk. All I could think of during the party was how lucky these kids’ teachers were to have them next year. They are just so excited to get started on their LONG educational journey and I couldn’t help but be excited for them.
If you have a son or daughter who is anxious to start school, I totally recommend throwing them a little party to keep that excitement alive. And if you would like to replicate our activities, I am offering the WORKSHEETS as a FREE DOWNLOAD. I designed the sheets to be filled out with Goldfish crackers that can be purchased at Walmart (on rollback….wahoo). I took a picture of where to find them in the store if you need it (see below).
