It’s hard to believe that it is already time for another Michaels Maker challenge (see last month’s challenge, my Hostess Gift Basket). I am LOVING being a Maker and feel so honored to be among such a great bunch. This month’s challenge involved a new line coming to Michaels on August 8th called RAW BAR. Raw Bar are products made of or accessorized by materials inspired by nature. Surfaces and textures include: burlap, cork, chalk board, wood, metal and canvas. They are absolutely PERFECT for rustic weddings, birthdays and events. I was sent a sample of Raw Bar materials and asked to create a craft with the goodies. It was so hard to choose between the adorable wooden spools and a 6X6 burlap canvas, but in the end went with the canvas. I wanted to come up with a craft that could be used in all those rustic events so I created DIY Cake Stands. They are the perfect size for a mini cake or stacks of cupcakes. Here’s how to make them (see below)….
Raw Bar 6X6 Burplap Canvas from Michaels
Small piece of wood
Glue Gun
Lace or Trim
Rod Iron Candle Sticks
Instructions
Take your 6X6 Canvas, turn over and fill with a small piece of wood. This helps to stabilize and glue firmly on the candlesticks. Hot glue your trim or lace around the edges of the canvas and let cool. Then hot glue the laced canvas to rod iron candle sticks. You’ll need A LOT of glue and make sure you press the canvas to the candlesticks until it has permanently attached.

Those are amazing and turned out beautifully! I would have so many uses for those stands!
Are the wrought iron candlesticks from Michaels? I can think of several items I’d make with those beauties, but I love your little cake stands! (Boy, this pale gray font is hard to read!)
