A few months ago my darling daughter London turned eight. Eight is a huge milestone in the Latter-day Saints faith. It’s the age of accountability and children have the opportunity to be baptized. London decided to take this opportunity and we started to plan accordingly. The program was simple; a musical number by London herself, short talks by my father and sister and the baptism ordinance. It was absolutely beautiful and ended up being a really spiritual experience for our family. If you are interested in learning more about mormonism or lds baptism, you can find information here.
After the mormon baptism, we held a little ice cream party in the church to celebrate my daughter’s decision. I wanted the party to be held outside, in this gorgeous gazebo outside out church building, but it was WAY too hot. I sacrificed a fabulously looking table display for the comforts of our guest. It was really, really hard!
The ice cream table ended up looking fine, but the goodies were absolutely delicious. We purchased loads and loads of Blue Bell Ice Cream (a local favorite and thy only Ice Cream on earth), had yummy drizzles like dark chocolate, white chocolate and caramel from World Market and jars and jars of candy/toppings from Candy Direct. They are the most amazing company with fantastic service. I was able to order the candy I needed in my party color schemes (gold, pink and white). There were so many choices! I ordered three different candies in each of my colors, all completely unique from each other. All the different textures and flavors looked so fantastic on my table display and the kids went nuts for all the candy!
In addition to the ice cream and toppings, there were CTR cookies made by my favorite cookie decorator, The Cookie Fairy. You may remember her work, here or here. She is so absolutely fabulous and even speckled the CTR cookies with shimmer for me! I love her. You much check out her work.
And lastly, we served the ever wonderful Lollipics for our guests (see here and here for examples). Lollipics are lollipops with edible images. I had my Sparkle & Shine designs printed on the Lollipics to match my invitations and program. Holy smokes did the guests love them!
It was an absolutely wonderful event and I am so thankful for everyone that helped make it happen.
What a special baptism day London (love her name) had! The cookies are beautiful and I love the lollipics!
BTW, I’m LDS too. 🙂
Looks awesome! And I want a closer look at those Baptism pictures. They look beautiful! I remember the stories you told me about London being the religious one in the family:) Wish I could meet her now!!
