Despite what it may look like on my blog or house (hello Whimsical Christmas Tree), I do still celebrate Thanksgiving. In fact, I love it! I mean who doesn’t love a holiday that celebrates being grateful and provides you with an opportunity to make and eat all your favorite foods? In an effort to bring Thanksgiving more into focus (I mean my house does look like Santa’s workshop already), I’ve been experimenting with some Thanksgiving treats. I thought it would be fun to invite some of my daughters’ friends over for a little party and wanted to find a no-bake, creative, holiday-themed activity to get them excited about Thanksgiving.  I came up with these DIY Reese’s Spread Marshmallow Turkeys. They are so easy to make it’s embarrassing, my girls thought they were the best things ever and they taste really, really good thanks to my new favorite secret ingredient…..Reese’s Spreads. This stuff is awesome. No longer will I be purchasing the melting chocolate blocks that often burn in my microwave. This stuff melts in the microwave in 20 seconds and tastes like Reese’s….uhmm hello?!? It will be my new go-to for cake balls, oreo balls (can you imagine….yum!) and fun treats like these turkeys. Read further to find the recipe.
And… if you’d like some more ideas on fun recipes or if you’d like to try some of this yumminess paired with apples, you can catch a demo at your select Wal-Mart stores November 13th-16th!
SUPPLIES
Jet-Puffed S’mores Mallows (the flat square ones)
Reese’s Spreads (you can find it in WalMart in the Peanut Butter/Nutella isle near the bread…see pic below)
Reese’s Peanut Butter Chips
Cupcake Liners
Googly Eyes (I like the really big ones)
Hot Glue/Gun
Popsicle Sticks (Optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
First take your cupcake liners (I used three for a nice full tail), fold the in half and hot glue on top of each other, slightly layering to see the individual colors. Set aside. In a microwavable bowl, microwave your Reese’s Spread for about 20 seconds. This gets your spread nice and gooey, perfect for spreading. Grab your marshmallow (or put in on a popsicle stick so you don’t get messy) and set it in your spread until the top portion of your mallow is covered. Â Place eyes and peanut butter chips on the melted spread where desired. While the spread is still gooey, place your cute little turkey on your folded/glued cupcake liners. The spread acts as an adhesive as it hardens. Let sit for an hour or so for the spread to get firm.
Chocolate that doesn’t burn in the microwave? Sounds like a dream! Love how cute these little turkeys are, too!
