Thanksgiving dessert table & party by double fun the parties with printables by love the day

POST BY JENNIFER OF DOUBLE THE FUN PARTIES

Thanksgiving is traditionally brown and orange and all sorts of wonderful fall colors, but this year, I became completely taken with the colors in Love the Day’s Thanksgiving Printables Collection. As soon as I saw the wonderful bright colors, I was designing a children’s table in my mind.

This was really a very simple design to pull off and would make your younger guests feel extra special at Thanksgiving. The best part is that I used what I had on hand, making this an inexpensive mini party.

I started with a white, floor length tablecloth and layered that with a plum tablecloth square. Next came green placemats. (I already had these placemats, but if you don’t want to pay $2-$4 each for woven placemats, just use scrapbook paper.) I folded an orange napkin long-ways and topped it with a yellow melamine plate.

We have wild turkeys walking through our backyard pretty regularly, so a faux turkey was a must for me. I used my Silhouette machine to cut feathers out of patterned papers from Love the Day’s collection. (You could free-hand cut these out.) I topped Mr. Turkey (as we started calling him) with a Love the Day pilgrim hat.

Any time I need chocolates, I turn first to The Frosted Petticoat. Their chocolates are always delicious, and I’m not even that big of a chocolate-as-candy person. I hope you can see the variegated colors in these chocolate leaf lollipops – each one was so gorgeous! (You can see their chocolate leaves on my mini pumpkin pies.)

I love boys in bow ties. It doesn’t get much cuter, right? I freehand cut a bow tie out of Love the Day patterned paper. A little baker’s twine attached with tape and sweet Caleb had a Thanksgiving bow tie.

I thought the kids would get a kick out of sitting by the dessert table, so that’s what we did. I made pecan pie, caramel bars, pumpkin pie and my grandmother’s apple cake. Now, I could personally eat 14 kinds of pumpkin desserts after Thanksgiving dinner, so I was pretty proud of my variety. Until. After a day of baking, I realized that every Thanksgiving dessert is brown. Booooring.

Lucky for me, I had a stunning wreath from Sweet Georgia Sweet to dress up my dessert table. I hung this from my bay window using a Command Strip Hook. Underneath the wreath, I used Love the Day’s banner to spell “Give Thanks.” I kept the serving pieces simple by choosing all white, and lined my trays with Lindi’s patterned paper.

Of course, I had the kids tell me what they were thankful for. We used blank cards from Love the Day that I packaged in orange striped envelopes from Shop Sweet Lulu. Each guest got a washable marker and they used mini clothespins to attach their “thankful cards” to grosgrain ribbon on their chair backs.

There is no reason why leftovers can’t be cute. Let them have {cute} cake! I found these darling boxes at Shop Sweet Lulu and embellished them with party circles from Love the Day and Rainbow Loom bracelets that my girls made in our party colors.

  • Anyone else feeling the need to organize EVERYTHING!? This holiday was busy & super messy and I’ve been trying to get organized after all the fun chaos! This week I’ve decided to tackle the epicenter….my craft room/office. It’s a disaster! I decided all my craft supplies needed their own home and found the most amazing totes/bins at @michaelsstores (I’ll share them in my stories). I placed vinyl labels on all the bins and am starting to feel so much better about life. Here’s how I did it! If you are looking to organize your craft area, I’ve designed some SVG labels for you. They are on my blog! #cricutmade #cricutcreations #vinyllove #craftroomorganization #linkinbio👆 #craftroomstorage #svgcuttingfiles #svgfilesforcricut
  • Whew....we almost made it y’all. There’s no doubt that 2020 was an absolute doozy for just about everyone. Although I know the turn of one day isn’t going to bring around immediate change (especially during a pandemic), there’s something about a new year that brings with it new hope and new wishes! What are you looking forward to in the new year?! I’ve designed a full 2021 printable calendar to help you plan and dream for the year ahead. #LTDprintables #linkinbio #2021calendar #newyearnewgoals #printables #dallasblogger
  • We’re getting ready for Christmas Eve Dinner and even though it feels different with just our family of four, it’s no less magical. After starting the week off by sulking (with me being the most guilty), we decided our family really needed to turn it around. The second we started thinking about others rather than ourselves....BAM! Christmas spirit explosion!! An afternoon of random acts of kindness fixed all! Now we’re prepping for dinner with The Carpenter’s Christmas album blasting and excited for the festivities of the next 24 hours! It’s amazing how getting outside of yourself can change everything. If you’re in a Christmas funk..try it! It will instantly bring magic to your holidays. Merry Christmas Eve everyone!
