It’s September which means it’s completely legit to start decorating for Halloween! If you’ve been following Love The Day for awhile you know that Halloween is my bread and butter. I love it ridiculously! I’ve already pulled out my hoards of boxes and begun spookifying out my house for the holiday. And how fitting that my first Michaels Maker Challenge of this year is to decorate one of their Ashland Fall Pumpkins (which are the absolute best….no messy insides, no rotting and they last forever)!
There were a couple of different ideas I had, but couldn’t pass up combing the fall pumpkins with Heidi Swapp’s Marquees. Especially the Halloween collection that was just released. They are crazy adorable! There is a pumpkin, bat, witch’s hat and a skeleton like the one I used below. I used the Heidi Swapp tape to spruce up my skeleton and placed it right in my pumpkin! See more detailed instructions below:
MATERIALS
Heidi Swapp Skeleton Marquee Kit
13′ Craft Pumpkin by Ashland
Heidi Swapp Marquee Black & White Stripe Tape
Exacto Knife
AAA Batteries
DIRECTIONS
Take your Skeleton Marquee out of the box, and place the skeleton frame on your pumpkin and trace. Using the exacto knife, cut along your traced line. Next take the extra Skeleton Pattern (it comes in your Marquee box) and using your Black & White Stripped Tape, tape your skeleton face. It takes about four pieces of tape. Make sure you match up your lines. Flip the skeleton over, and using your exacto knife again, cut out the eyes, nose, mouth and light circles that are covered with tape. Place the taped skeleton face in your marquee. Put the light bulbs in the sockets and string your lights. Make sure you also put in your AAA Batteries. Place the entire Skeleton Marquee into your pumpkin and enjoy!
