One of my favorite aspects about this blog and industry are the amazing people I get to meet and interact with, especially the lovely Washingtonians. And how excited was I to discover Petite Social just a few miles from me! Katie of Petite Social is new to the party scene, but it’s not hard to see how well she will do. She’s ubber talented and has a beautiful eye for detail. Katie contacted me about designing some name tags, menu cards and thank yous to coordinate with an upcoming bridal shower. I thought I would let Katie tell you a little bit about her stunning Jimmy Choo-inspired event,
Since the inspiration was a very glamourous pair of shoes, I envisioned lots of glass and lots of sparkle.COLOR PALETTE: The room at Top of the Hub was mostly all cream so I thought Gold would be a nice color combo to go with the Pear Green.
TABLESCAPE: I was limited to what I could do with decor at Top of the Hub (can’t hang anything from wall or ceilings), so I tried to add personal touches through the tablescape by bringing in our own:1) Glasses – I wanted to pull in color so thought green glasses would be a nice touch. These simple wine glasses were found at the Dollar store! Not something I had planned, but when you come across something that looks good and is a good deal, you go with it!
2) Floral arrangments & centerpieces – I always like the idea of each place setting having their own vase of floral arrangement. So, instead of one large floral centerpiece, I decided to go with 10 individual floral arrangements and one large gold and crystal candelabra, which I thought pulled in the glass and sparkle.
3) Personalized menu cards and place settings designed by Love the Day. Each menu card was embellished with a gold and diamond trim ribbon that I found at Hancock Fabrics… Such a small touch, but it made the place setting look so much more elegant had I gone a plain ribbon route.
DESSERT & FAVORS: Jacques Pastries does some amazing and very artistic creations, but they can also do simple. A two tiered red velvet and carrot cake was created and I loved the added diamond ribbon on each layer of the cake. Sara from Dandy Delights created Jimmy Choos and Diamond rings for our guests to take home as their favors.
