If you follow me on Snapchat (@lovethedaydsign), you know that I spent my weekend doing something I’ve wanted to do forever! I took a crocheting class! My great-grandma tried to teach my when I was younger, but I never fell in love with the art. This Saturday, I spent two and a half hours with a fabulous teacher at Michaels re-learning the skill and finally did…I fell in LOVE. My grandma would be so proud. The class was so fantastic and the teacher so qualified to teach beginners. By the end of the class, I had learned enough to crochet a pot-holder! And oh boy am I proud of that thing.
I’ve spent everyday since watching YouTube videos of different stitches and projects I hope to learn. I’ve even signed up for the next level Michaels crochet class. I am seriously so excited about getting better at this fun new craft. One of the projects I’m dying to learn how to make are Crochet Coasters. I think they are so adorable on party tablescapes. My amazing friend Ericka made this batch for me and has totally inspired me to keep figuring this crocheting business out. I mean, how cute are these? She’s incredible.
Anyway, I’m so happy I finally took the time to learn something new. Now to take the Wilton Cake Decorating Classes and the Drawing Class! Have you taken a class from Michaels? I would love to hear about your experience. I was so pleasantly surprised at how fun mine was. And I was shocked at about how many classes they offer…I had no idea! Some of them are even free classes. You can try out a new craft skill for just the cost of supplies. Or another great way to explore your creativity is by trying out a craft kit. Michaels has everything from sewing kits to art kits and everything in between. Both are such a great resource for crafters and non-crafters alike. I’m completely sold. And now if you’ll excuse me, I have a pot-holder to keep working on.
